Many PVI products are uniquely listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL). Today PVI is the only ramp manufacturer in the medical field to have its products safety tested and listed by UL.

In order for a portable access ramp to be listed by UL, it must be able to carry four times its rated capacity. As an example: the WCR630 has a 600 pound capacity rating. The testing that is conducted is a center point load test, not dispersed weight. The weakest point of any ramp is the very center. In order to pass UL requirements, the ramp must carry 4 times it's rated capacity or as in this example, 2400 pounds. This is direct pressure that is applied to the very center of the ramp (the area of PVI’s patented center joint hinge).

Does that mean the ramp can be rated for 2400 pounds? NO! It is still rated at 600 pounds. But what it does is provide a very large safety net for the user. It is one thing for a manufacturer to test their own products, however; it is entirely different to have an outside source test your products, especially an independent company the caliber of UL.

No other ramp manufacturer in the medical field has accomplished this.
